The second workshop in the Kupono: Teachers Workshops On Politics in Hawaii series, entitled "Americanization in the Public Schooling & Effects (1898-2017)" will feature Dr. Umi Perkins and Laakea Carvalho and will focus on the aftermath of the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, the americanization of youth in Hawaii, their assimilation into the Western style of education and indoctrination into the American mindset, and how that americanization has affected education and curriculum today.
