The House Committee on Higher Education will hear a pair of bills related to sustainability at University of Hawaiʻi campuses in both agriculture and energy production.

HB 848, HD1: Exempts microgrids that promote and serve public higher education institutions from regulation as a public utility by the Public Utilities Commission. Adds a definition for "microgrid." Appropriates funds. Submit testimony.

HB 1279: Appropriates funds for the University of Hawaiʻi, West Oʻahu, to expand its existing programs and develop new means to increase food security and self-sufficiency in the State. Submit testimony.
