The House Committee on Housing will hear several important bills related to affordable housing and low-income renters' credit.
HB 1267: Requires the Hawaii Housing Finance & Development Corporation and each county to initiate a rent-controlled housing pilot project for new housing constructed in a total of 5 representative districts and for housing constructed in those districts prior to 1990. HB 389: Authorizes the issuance of general obligation bonds and appropriates funds to several state agencies for the purposes of improving and increasing the existing public and affordable housing stock in the State. HB 868: Requires the Hawaii Public Housing Authority to establish trust accounts to provide matching funds to tenants who rent dwelling units. Specifies tenancy termination requirements.
